Mark

Business / Tech

Hey there I'm Mark, the founder of Mentor Audio. I grew up with underground music during my teenage years, then went to Leeds Uni (UK) where thanks to SubDub and the likes I fell in love with the scene even more. Day-to-day, I run the business side of the product and do all the tech work behind it. Outside of Mentor Audio I work as an independent software consultant where I build mobile/web apps for startups and bigger companies.

Tayler

Tayler

Customer / Comms

Hi I’m Tayler. I’ve been active within the drum and bass community for over 10 years in some way or another, from my early days flyering events, to more recently running a small label with mates, promoting events and managing online dnb forums. Outside of drum and bass, I’m currently working towards a PhD on employee mental health in the workplace. Since dnb is my passion, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work as part of the Mentor Audio team, and help build a space for artists to get their music heard.

Joe

Joe

Brand / Media

Hi, I’m Joe, lover of all things creative, particularly musical, electronic, and drum & bass. I graduated in English & Film in 2016 from university in Nottingham, where I got seriously engaged with the music scene. I also produce and DJ as Ronin. Outside of music, I’ve taught English in a French school since moving to France in 2019. In 2020, I was thrilled to start work writing for Mentor Audio – learning about its mission made me an avid supporter and driven to spread the good word!

About the idea

Mentor Audio is an idea that's been brewing since 2015-ish after I tried to dip my toes into music production myself. I was struggling to get feedback on my production and soon found out that there were many other fresh artists in a similar situation. I later discovered that labels/podcasts conversely needed a better way to manage incoming demo tracks, hence the idea for Mentor Audio was born. Over the past year I finally found the time to build this platform out. With the help of Tayler I'm now slowly trying to grow Mentor Audio into a usable product with an active userbase.

How much does it cost?

Mentor Audio is completely free to use both for artists and mentors. In the future, known labels/podcasts will be able to put a price on their reviews, which will help fund their day-to-day operations. Mentor Audio is here just to facilitate.

If it's free, what's in it for you?

It's nice to give back to the community. Having Mentor Audio on the portfolio also helps. Mentor Audio is a side project that we hope to cultivate into full-time jobs one day.

Is my content safe with Mentor Audio?

The company behind Mentor Audio is Monad Engineering Ltd, registered in UK with official offices in London.

Can I contribute?

Yes, absolutely! Ping us an email on mark@mentoraudio.com with a short introduction and we will definitely find you some opportunities.
